There’s no denying that as last-minute transfers go, the deal taking Marcel Sabitzer to Manchester United has been a successful one to date.

The Austrian was loaned from Bayern Munich following the injury to Christian Eriksen, but few expected him to have an immediate impact.

Erik ten Hag clearly trusted the midfielder, however, who has repaid him with great performances when called upon by Manchester United.

That quickly led to talk that the Red Devils could look to make the move permanent, with a fee of €20m touted here and there.

A new update has now come in Germany, with Florian Plettenberg taking to Twitter to provide it, claiming it’s ‘absolutely possible’ that the midfielder will join Manchester United ‘on a permanent transfer’.

However, it’s still ‘too early for concrete negotiations’ at this stage, since there is so much of the season left.

First, Bayern Munich want to finalise a transfer for Konrad Laimer, with whom they have had a verbal agreement for months.

Once that’s done, then perhaps talks regarding Sabitzer with Manchester United can take place.
