Renan Lodi joined Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan deal from Atlético Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The fear of not being a regular at the La Liga side saw the left-back join the Tricky Trees. The 24-year-old knew that without more game time, he wouldn’t represent Brazil at the World Cup.

Tite has now announced his squad for the FIFA tournament in Qatar and the Nottingham Forest player has been left out.

AS explain the left-back ‘has not achieved his goal’ with the Premier League side since he has struggled for regular game time with them this season. He’s made six appearances in the league, which includes five starts.

The South American’s decision to join Nottingham Forest on loan ‘did not please’ Atlético manager Diego Simeone. This transfer has not worked out, especially for Lodi since he will not make it to the World Cup with Seleção.

Lodi, as per AS, ‘became a theoretical luxury reinforcement’ for the English club. He is not a regular under Steve Cooper and when given opportunities the defender’s displays have been ‘far from convincing’.

Following Lodi’s move to Nottingham Forest, Los Rojiblancos took Sergio Reguilón on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. The latter has not yet played this season, which suggests the Brazilian could have got some minutes had he decided to stay at the Metropolitano.
