Red Bull Salzburg are ‘rubbing their hands’ at Brenden Aaronson’s impending move to Leeds United, which will be the fourth-highest in the club’s history.
That’s according to Salzburger Nachrichten, who say the midfielder is an ‘absolute dream’ signing for Leeds boss Jesse Marsch.
A deal for Aaronson was quickly reported after Leeds secured their Premier League status on Sunday afternoon courtesy of a 2-1 win over Brentford.
Those covered how they are set to pay up to €30m for the highly-rated midfielder, with a report from Germany today backing that up and saying everything was in place for the move to happen.
Salzburger Nachrichten now follow that up and say while a transfer has been ‘planned for some time’, it was only after they secured their Premier League future that the way was ‘cleared’.
Aaronson is an ‘absolute dream player’ for Leeds boss Marsch, which is why they are paying so much for the 21-year-old.
The midfielder will sign a deal until 2025 at Elland Road, and it’s been made clear that his €28m fee will bring a ‘certain level of expectation’.
Salzburg are more than happy to let their latest talent go for such a big figure and are even ‘rubbing their hands’ at the prospect of another big deal.
Indeed, Aaronson is set to become the fourth most expensive departure of the Red Bull era at the club, following the likes of Erling Haaland and Karim Adeyemi in securing big departures after impressing in Austria.
