With every day that goes by, Diego Llorente is a step closer to leaving Leeds United for AS Roma for the second time in six months.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who bring the latest on the talks between the Elland Road side and their Italian counterparts on Thursday.
It’s well known that the Spaniard has no future at Leeds, and following a good six months in Rome, there was hope a new deal could br struck.
The €18m option to buy in the initial deal was seen as way too expensive for the Serie A club, especially following the Whites’ return to the Championship, and that’s why new negotiations took place.
A permanent transfer was discussed, it appears a new loan will be the preferred option, as Corriere reveal that everything is nearly done.
They state that while the arrival of Evan N’Dicka is now offical, that of Llorente is ‘almost’ there, as Leeds and Roma are ‘defining the second loan’ of the defender who has ‘pushed so much’ to return to Italy’s capital.
The player is now ‘ready for his second adventure’ under José Mourinho, and appears to want to be as far away from Elland Road as possible going forward.
