Simone Zaza could make his debut for West Ham against Watford on Saturday. The Italian striker signed for the London club on loan with a mandatory option to buy for €28m, including bonuses.
Zaza’s father, and agent, Antonio has been speaking to Italian website Tutto Napoli on his move to West Ham, and interest from Napoli.
He said: “There was a strong contact with Napoli, then we didn’t hear from them, and they did not even explain why.
“Thank God, we were spoilt for choice and there was the important proposal of West Ham, a great project.”
West Ham were almost desperate in their attempts to sign a prolific goalscorer in the summer, and their search ended with Zaza.
The 25-year-old was also close to signing for Wolfsburg, before he eventually signed for the Hammers.
Zaza didn’t play too often at Juventus when everyone was available, due to the presence of tough competition, and will now certainly be hoping to get regular playing time at West Ham.
