One of the more surprising transfers toward the end of the summer window was Oliver Burke moving from Nottingham Forest to Red Bull Leipzig.

A few days after the transfer, German newspaper Bild explained what, according to their information, had led to the deal.

Burke had been recommended to Leipzig by the Sports Total agency, and after watching videos of the youngster, the Bundesliga club decided they had to buy him.

Oliver Burke Bild September 7thSporting director Ralf Rangnick travelled by Learjet to watch Burke in action against Leeds United, and then took the 19 year old back to Germany for a tour of the club’s facilities.

Bild claimed the fee agreed was €12m, which was quite a bit less than claims in England.

Since the move, Burke has been settling in and training, and they explain on Wednesday that the youngster is set to miss out on Leipzig’s squad at the weekend.

It’s nothing to do with the player’s fitness, it’s just thought he’s tactically behind and will need to be eased into life at the club.

Bild finish off by saying Burke’s salary at Leipzig is €1.5m, plus bonuses.
