A few days ago, Arnaut Danjuma’s agent played down a move to West Ham, who have been long rumoured to be interested in the Dutch forward.
The former AFC Bournemouth player had a season to remember at Villarreal last season, helping them go very far in the Champions League, which led to rumours of an exit, with him returning to the Premier League.
While teams like Liverpool were once linked, it’s West Ham who stuck, but a move to the Hammers appears completely off the cards now.
That’s according to AS, who report that a ‘Danjuma sale cools down’ at Villarreal, and the player’s entourage ‘rule out West Ham’.
As mentioned above, this comes a few days after his agent said a move to West Ham was very unlikely, with those around the winger now stating ‘his intention is to continue at Villarreal’.
Basically, ‘talks between the two clubs have not come to fruition’ and Danjuma now ‘wants to focus on Villarreal and to reach the best level ahead of the World Cup in Qatar’.
Not only that, but he also ‘wants to give back to Unai Emery and the fans the support they have given him over the past season’.
That being said, ‘a future exit cannot be ruled out’, because the summer transfer market ‘has just started’, and there’s certainly no way of knowing who might turn their attention to Danjuma next.
While West Ham remain an attractive destination, should some of the clubs that finished above them in the Premier League last season come knocking…
