In mid November, Jurgen Locadia spoke to the Dutch media and made it clear his future at Brighton & Hove Albion is in doubt.
The 25 year old had been left disappointed with his Brighton experience and was already considering where he could move in a future window. There was even the suggestion he’d considered a transfer in the summer, but the Premier League club weren’t keen.
Locadia explained: “In the summer, a departure was not an option for Brighton, although there was interest from beautiful clubs. Then I agreed with my agent to look at the situation in the winter.
“Soon there will be a conversation. I respect Brighton, but I hope they respect me in this situation. I’m only human. I want to go for the highest level and not be loaned to a club in the Championship, for example. I hope for a club in Spain, Germany, something like that. Of course I have to show it myself and then hope that I get a fair chance.”
Since that interview, Locadia has had one minute of football, against Leicester City in the Premier League.
Voetbal International say the player’s situation is becoming ‘increasingly painful’, as he’s now not second choice behind Glenn Murray, but further back.
Florin Andone has pushed ahead, and Locadia isn’t even getting any time on the wings.
Voetbal International say the ‘weeks of truth’ are coming. There’s a busy period ahead, and if the footballer isn’t used, the rescue window opens on January 1st.
