David de Gea’s Manchester United contract will expire today and he’s set to be replaced by Inter Milan star André Onana, according to claims in Italy.
David Harrison, the Red Devils’ director of football operations, decided to replace De Gea with Onana after the latter starred in the Champions League final defeat to Manchester City.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who state Manchester United are ‘now starting to negotiate’ with the Serie A side over a deal for the 27-year-old.
It’s claimed Inter sporting Piero Ausilio’s meeting with the Premier League side ‘officially opens today’. The parties involved in the operation are aware that a fixed fee of €50m is needed for the agreement.
Ausilio has already met Harrison in Ibiza and the report adds the two will meet again today.
In addition to this, the Cameroonian’s agent has travelled to Ibiza to ‘finalise and define’ the details of the operation to take Onana to Old Trafford.
Gazzetta state Manchester United and Inter shouldn’t take ‘too many days’ to reach an agreement for the stopper. This indicates more developments are expected soon.
