Chelsea are not yet ‘negotiating directly’ with Barcelona for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, with the player’s agents acting as intermediaries between the two clubs.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the move has been ‘delayed’ but is still likely to go through.
The newspaper reports that both Chelsea and Barcelona are clear that they will eventually reach an agreement for the striker, who has already accepted a move to Stamford Bridge.
Barcelona are aiming to get at least €15m for Aubameyang, who arrived on a free from Arsenal in the January transfer window. That will free up much-needed funds for them to register Jules Koundé.
For now, despite reports elsewhere, there has been no formal offer from Chelsea or even a direct negotiation with Barca.
However, Aubameyang’s agents are ‘acting as a bridge’ between the two club and hope to facilitate a quick agreement.
Because of this it is hoped that a deal can be done soon, with Barcelona keen to register Koundé as soon as possible so they can spend the rest of the window focusing on signing two new full-backs.
