Spanish outlet Marca today features a story highlighting Newcastle United’s chase for two Atletico Madrid players: Renan Lodi and Yannick Carrasco.

They point out the duo is the ‘objective of the powerful’ Magpies, who are working hard on strengthening their squad this summer.

First speaking of Lodi, with recent claims saying Newcastle could pay up to €40m, it’s said that would be enough for Atletico to think about accepting it, since they’re in need of money for the market.

Now the most interesting information is about Carrasco, because even though manager Diego Simeone doesn’t want him to leave, his €60m release clause could still make his departure possible.

Marca recalls that Newcastle had been ‘already tempted’ to signing him in January, and even though the player ‘gave his word’ about staying, his new agent is looking for a new contract, and that makes his future ‘open’.

This means there’s a probable new chance for the Magpies to get their man in the summer.

Atletico Madrid have already lost the likes of Thomas Partey, Rodri and Kieran Trippier to Premier League clubs, and are now aware that other players could be taking the same path soon.
