Newcastle United is not a club Luis Muriel is considering as a destination this summer, reports Alfredo Pedulla.
The Italian journalist insists the Colombian ‘will not go to Newcastle’, despite him also saying there’s no doubt there’s interest from the Magpies this summer.
Muriel has a contract with Atalanta which expires in June 2023, so he’s either available on a bargain deal this summer, could wait and move for free next year, or will end up signing a renewal.
The 31-year-old is thought to be edging towards the exit door at the Serie A side, and some of their incoming business depends on that transfer happening. Last season, the 31-year-old striker scored 14 goals and added 10 assists, so it’s understandable he’s receiving interest from elsewhere.
Pedulla says Muriel is aware he’s on Juventus’ list as a possible reinforcement in attack, and that’s obviously a temptation for him.
Although it’s not specifically stated, should the Turin club not move forward then perhaps Newcastle United will have another chance. Fans of the Magpies will know well how often the Italian media dismissed Sven Botman wanting a move to the club, and Eddie Howe got his man in the end.
