Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has been linked to several Premier League clubs through the years, and with Newcastle United now joining the discussion for big signings, it’s time to have rumours about that as well.

Following the takeover at St. James’ Park, the Magpies have now been said to be keen on the French defender, and perhaps that story won’t last much longer.

That’s because when speaking to Tele A today, journalist Paolo Del Genio made sure to turn down the rumours of that move, claiming Koulibaly is going nowhere for now.

Quoted by Area Napoli, he claims to be very certain that the defender will not be heading to the Premier League side.

“I usually never get out of balance on the transfer market, but this time I feel like it: Koulibaly will not go to Newcastle, I give you this news as official.”

“Over the years the former Genk player has been given as gone many times, but he has not moved from Campania. Trust me: Kalidou Koulibaly will grow old wearing the Napoli shirt (laughs).”

Koulibaly has a contract with Napoli running until 2023, and that’s one of the reasons why he’d be an obvious target for the next summer. Recently linked to the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United as well, he’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €48m.
