On December 3rd, Mundo Deportivo reported that Adrien Rabiot has already said yes to join Barcelona as he’s in the final six months of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
To join the La Liga winners on a free transfer, his mother and agent Veronique Rabiot, demand more than €10m signing on bonus, but the Blaugrana are trying to convince her not to ask in excess of €10m.
The front page of Friday’s edition of Sport claims there will be an ‘imminent meeting’ between the midfielder and the Catalan club.
It’s once again relayed the 23-year-old’s priority is to make a switch to the Camp Nou, but so far the contract has not been signed.
His agent has offered the player to other clubs and this led to concern for Ernesto Valverde’s side, but they are relying on the PSG contract rebel’s determination to play for the Spanish champions.
For Barcelona, to sign Rabiot on a free transfer and also offer him a signing on bonus plus a contract for five seasons with low buyout clause seems like a perfect plan.
However, to incorporate him in the squad this month would see their wage bill shoot up, which is why the option to sign Rabiot in January seems ‘impossible’.
The Frenchman understands the situation and will listen to Barcelona in the coming days, when he will make the final decision and may also sign a pre-contract agreement with them.
