Donny van de Beek endured a difficult debut season at Manchester United after joining them from Ajax in 2020.
The midfielder made 36 appearances in all competitions, but it included only four starts in the league.
Having tried to look for a move elsewhere, the 24-year-old’s agent claimed the Red Devils blocked his exit in the summer.
The Netherlands international has made three appearances this term, which includes two starts in United’s defeats against West Ham United [EFL Cup] and Young Boys.
In his pre-match press conference on Friday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he understands the Dutchman’s frustration over a lack of regular playing time.
His situation in Manchester is ‘untenable’ due to the limited playing time. Therefore, he has ‘asked to leave’ the Premier League side.
AC Milan are one of the first few clubs to have asked about his situation and ‘will try to sign’ him in January, preferably on a loan deal with an option to buy.
The ‘only problem’ for the Serie A side is that other European ‘greats’ are likely to be in picture to sign Van de Beek.
