On October 15th, both Sport and Mundo Deportivo had a report on Barcelona’s interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rúben Neves.
The Portugal international was linked with a move to the La Liga side in the summer, but no deal took shape.
His current deal at Wolves expires in 2024 and the midfielder could change clubs when the next window opens in January.
Mundo Deportivo state the Catalan club are looking to sign a new midfielder in the winter market due to Sergio Busquets’ struggles this campaign, especially against Inter Milan [in the Champions League] and Real Madrid.
An ‘option that is being offered’ to Barca is Neves. The player, who is managed by Jorge Mendes, ‘wants to leave’ Wolves. The agent has good relationship with the Spanish giants and has already ‘offered his [client’s] services’ to them.
Xavi’s side are ‘evaluating’ whether to sign the Wolves man, likely for January.
Mundo state Mendes could help Barca take Neves in January, on a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option for July 2023.
