Turkey’s NTV Spor report on Sunday afternoon that Besiktas are set to part ways with Pepe as he’s keen on a move to Wolves.
The 35 year old wishes the offer to be evaluated and Besiktas are said to be preparing to go their separate ways from the defender.
Upon hearing from Pepe that he wants to move to the Premier League side, the Turkish club are said to have started negotiations over the transfer. The clubs are now ‘expected to make a deal soon’ and NTV Spor further pushes home that it’s ‘expected’ the transfer will happen.
There’s no claim of a potential fee in this particular report, but previous claims had put it around €7m, and Wolves are thought to be prepared to meet such a figure.
Pepe joined Besiktas on a free transfer last summer, having seen his Real Madrid contract run down. The Turkish club placed him on a big contract and, as often happens, probably regret just how much money they agreed to pay.
That’s another reason the club would be willing to negotiate an exit.
Besiktas will create themselves problems should they sell Pepe, having already seen two defenders leave the club recently. There’s also the situation with Domagoj Vida, and his potential exit.
