Catalan outlet Sport features today a story on Arsenal star Alexander Lacazette and the rumours regarding a transfer to Barcelona.
It was the Italian media who recently said the Camp Nou side are one of the clubs who are interested in his signing in the summer.
Sport, however, only bring it up to turn down the story, as they claim that Lacazette has actually been offered to Barcelona, among other clubs, as he ‘wants to leave’ the Gunners.
But the La Liga giants have no intention of signing him, because while they are aware of how this operation would be possible, that doesn’t mean they will make any effort to get the striker.
Sport recall that Barcelona were interested in signing Lacazette a couple of years ago, but the agreement was ‘impossible’ and they gave up on the move.
Now there’s no interest in going for him, mostly because he’s just not good enough.
The Frenchman’s contract with Arsenal expires in 2022, and the Gunners are expected to get a fee with his sale this summer.
The Camp Nou side, meanwhile, would rather get free agents such as Sergio Aguero or try and sign someone like Memphis Depay (as long as Ronald Koeman stays in charge).
