For the past few months, Manchester City have been named as the main contender in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.
Earlier this week, reports from the German press explained the striker’s move to join the English champions could be hindered by his injury woes and Mino Raiola’s poor health condition.
On Friday, Sky Deutschland dismissed these suggestions and explained that Manchester City and Real Madrid will not ‘back down’ because of the 21-year-old’s injury record. He has missed close to 100 days of action due to various injuries this season.
Bild have now come up with a report explaining that Pep Guardiola ‘actually gave the green light’ to sign the star. In addition to this, Haaland also ‘wants to go’ to the Etihad after this season.
Bild state: ‘So as not to be too easy in the long run to be predictable, Pep wants to set new stimuli in the squad. In plain language this means: After two years with a “false nine” or small centre forwards like Gabriel Jesus or formerly Sergio Agüero, Guardiola is going for a centre forward with power, mass and speed in the coming season.’
Despite the former Barcelona manager giving the green light for Manchester City to sign Haaland, the deal is ‘still stuck’. That’s because of Mino Raiola and Alf-Inge Håland, who are asking for commission of €40m and €30m respectively.
This is the ‘main reason’ why the deal has not gone through yet. If Raiola and the striker’s father ‘refrain from their greedy demands and meet Manchester City’, then then ‘mega transfer should take place promptly’.
