Serge Aurier, who left Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, could be set for a huge move to Real Madrid after being released by Spurs.
Aurier left Tottenham after four years, with both him and the club electing to part ways at the end of August.
He’s been without a club since, although there have been numerous reports about interest in the Premier League.
His availability on a free, plus his experience at Tottenham and Paris Saint Germain, makes him an attractive target for clubs who are free to sign him despite the transfer window being closed.
And it appears one of those clubs interested in him is Real Madrid, at least according to El Chiringuito de Jugones.
Superdeporte report them saying that, as the right-back position is a problem one for the Spanish giants due to a recent injury to Dani Carvajal, they are on the hunt for an alternative.
The club are ‘looking at the horizon’ for a player to fill the position, and that has seen them notice Aurier.
He is reportedly ‘on the list of favourites’ at the club, who value his signing as he is a free agent and bringing him to the club would not be a ‘big outlay’ for them and their finances.
That’s an attractive proposition for a club that spent most of the summer cutting costs as much as possible and don’t want to spend too much ahead of next summer.
Aurier on a free, then, is very attractive for them, regardless of the fact his time at Tottenham was hardly a great one.
