Real Madrid defender Álvaro Odriozola is ‘increasingly’ closer to a move to Nottingham Forest, with his days at the Bernabeu numbered.
That’s according to AS, who say the full-back is negotiating a move to Forest and is out of the picture for the Spanish giants.
The newspaper reports that Odriozola hasn’t featured for Carlo Ancelotti in pre-season and will not be in the squad for the clash with Celta Vigo on Saturday.
According to the club he is not available for the game as he is suffering from a ‘discomfort in his left calf muscle’.
While that may be the case he is also ‘looking for a destination’ outside of Madrid and is ‘accelerating that departure’. At the moment, ‘all signs point to England’.
Odriozola would not look badly on a move to the Premier League and Nottingham Forest are ‘very interested’ in securing his signature if they can.
His absence from the Real Madrid squad heading to Vigo would ‘facilitate’ his negotiations with Nottingham Forest, which the defender is ‘trying to intensify’.
Madrid want a permanent transfer, not a loan deal, having sanctioned the latter last season, which Odriozola spent at Fiorentina.
Nottingham Forest will therefore have to open their chequebook once again, although for what price remains to be seen.
