Ronaldo Vieira should be announced a Sampdoria player on Tuesday, or at the very latest on Wednesday.
Claims started building in Italy on Sunday of a potential transfer to the Serie A club and it’s moved very quickly from there.
Monday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport had a line on the move and then there were claims of a €7m offer being agreed with Leeds United.
That was questioned elsewhere, with a suggestion it’s actually €5m plus more in bonuses. Sampdoria’s local media seems quite excited about the signing, even though it’s thought Vieira will be a squad player rather than walking into the first team.
To pay €7m for a reserve is considered a good sign around the Genoa club.
Sampdoria News report Vieira arrived in Genoa on Monday evening, touching down at the city’s Cristoforo Colombo airport at 22.45. After signing the paperwork today, the (then) former Leeds player will join up with Sampdoria’s preseason tour.
