West Ham United are continuing to eye up a move for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Koné, who is set to be sold next summer.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say the 21-year-old defender is ‘at the top’ of the Hammers’ shopping list.
The newspaper explains that Gladbach’s planning for the future is in full swing and currently the focus is on three players, Koné among them.
He has a contract with the German club until 2025 and that includes an option to extend it by a further year to 2026, but the plan is to sell him next summer regardless of that.
The interested parties are already lining up for him and West Ham are one of them, having already had the midfielder ‘watched several times’ by scouts.
They reportedly have Koné ‘at the top’ of their shopping list for the summer and will be ready to make a move for him when Gladbach put him up for sale.
There’s no mention of an asking price as yet but it is made clear that the youngster is currently valued at around €25m, so any deal is likely to be for a figure around that point.
Whether West Ham would be willing to pay that remains to be seen, but they are interested, and Borussia are aware of it.
