Torino’s Samuele Ricci has stated he’s pleased with recent reports linking him with a move to Manchester City.
Italy manager Luciano Spalletti has included the midfielder in his squad for this month’s international break. At the weekend, the midfielder started in his side’s 3-2 defeat against Inter Milan.
Sky Italia then spoke to Ricci and asked him if he can keep his feet on the ground, after receiving his latest call up and given reported interest from Manchester City. His comments are relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb.
Despite being excited, the player is determined he won’t get carried away or distracted by the transfer claims.
“I’ve learned to understand a little: as soon as you do well, lots of things come out. They’re nice, but you shouldn’t let it get to your head. I still have to improve on many things,” he said.
When asked if he had read those reports, Ricci explained: “I look at them, friends send me articles. However, I think more about concrete things and that is the green rectangle [pitch].”
Rodri has suffered a serious knee injury and Pep Guardiola has confirmed he’ll be without the midfielder for rest of this season. This has seen the Premier League winners linked to a few midfielders, including Ricci.
On Friday, we covered claims from Italy which stated Manchester City are ready to make a huge offer for the Italy international. This report emerged a day after TuttoMercatoWeb stated the Serie A side value him close to €40m.
Sky Italia also spoke to Torino technical director Davide Vagnati over the Manchester City links.
Responding to that, relayed by MlianNews.it, the director stated he’s pleased that Torino took the 23-year-old from Empoli in 2022.
He then added: “The boy was very good at believing in his work, he did a lot, he grew a lot from a physical-muscular point of view, from what his technical qualities and vision of the game are, he already had them. He has improved in that, and I think he can play with any coach in any league.”
