Rafa Silva’s departure from Braga has been speculated for a long time. Despite a low release clause (€20m), the big clubs don’t seem convinced to pay, and the player waits for someone to take him.
O Jogo has a story on Monday claiming that a transfer to Porto is possible, but it’s still far from done. Rafa would like the move, as the Dragons are said to be negotiating the signing.
When we say the player would “like the move”, that’s because Rafa seems to be choosing his next destination. He reportedly rejected a transfer to Zenit, and despite his dream to play in the Premier League, he only wants to join big clubs.
So according to O Jogo, that puts the likes of Everton and Southampton out of the race. They say these clubs wouldn’t be able to convince the attacker, as he would prefer to wait for Porto’s decision, no matter how long it takes.
Rafa was linked to several Premier League sides this year, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Leicester. But it seems that the official bids never arrived to Braga, and with such an affordable price, it’s very likely that these clubs are really not interested in buying the Portuguese player… otherwise they would have already done it.
Either Everton or Southampton would be a good move for Rafa, and perhaps he needs to reassess his option.
