Sport have kept up their regular-ish record of having Philippe Coutinho on the front cover. This time the Liverpool star is only a small part, as Sport look at what kind of business Valverde is expected to do.
Whoever had taken over from Luis Enrqiue, it’s pretty sure that Sport would still have linked Coutinho, with the Brazilian being a favourite of the Catalan newspaper. There’s no great leap forward for Sport, no special need for Anfield worry, but it’s once again claimed that Coutinho would be keen on a move to Barcelona.
So keen is Coutinho, insist Sport, that he’s told relatives he’d accept a slightly different role at Barcelona, to start with at least. Given the importance of Andres Iniesta, Coutinho would be shunted out of position to accommodate.
None of that would make dealing with Liverpool any easier, and Sport say it’s a very complicated transfer, which could take weeks, months, or years.
Coutinho is said to be the new Steven Gerrard for Liverpool fans, which is pushing it a bit, and any transfer would be very expensive.
No big reason for Liverpool worry, just the same, long held, irritation of that Catalan fly buzzing around Coutinho.
