Just under a week ago we covered claims from France that West Ham had submitted an offer for Rachid Ghezzal.
The bid from West Ham was in the region of €8m and L’Equipe, who revealed the situation, didn’t make it clear whether it had been accepted, rejected, or just left to wait for a while.
Ghezzal’s contract with Lyon only has a year left and the player’s reluctance to renew has obviously made a sale more likely. At the time of the bid claim, L’Equipe said Lyon planned to hold further Ghezzal talks toward the end of last week, in an effort o resolve the situation.
However, that doesn’t appear to have had a positive outcome. At the end of L’Equipe’s match report on Lyon’s 3-0 victory away to Nancy, the newspaper have a small bit on Ghezzal.
The player wasn’t in the match day squad, and manager Bruno Genesio said: “He felt discomfort in his groin.”
They say Genesio looked a little embarrassed and quickly escaped. The insinuation being it’s not the whole truth.
A transfer is quite possible and L’Equipe once again point out West Ham, but also bring Everton into the situation.
Ghezzal is 24 years of age, primarily a right winger, but can also play on the left or through the middle.
