Hamburger Morgenpost join the German chorus of belief that Chris Wood leaving Leeds United opens up a new Pierre-Michel Lasogga opportunity.
Lasogga was ‘reluctant’ to move to Elland Road because he felt he’d ben back-up to Wood, without much chance of getting ahead of the New Zealander.
With Wood now at Burnley, that barrier has been taken down and it’s led to several claims, and assumptions, in Germany that a Leeds move should be back on.
Mopo say Leeds United have been hanging around the Lasogga idea for a ‘long time’, and the Wood issue is ‘no problem since yesterday’.
Lasogga would ‘rethink’, according to the German newspaper, and it’s also stated that as long as Markus Gisdol is manager of Hamburg the striker has no more chances ahead of him.
There’s nothing especially concrete coming from Germany on this one, but if Leeds United were so interested in a loan a couple of weeks ago, they may still be.
That is unless Lasogga’s reluctance to fight Wood for a spot has put those in charge at Elland Road off the German striker.
