Russian daily sport newspaper Sport Express have reported scouts from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United were in attendance for last week’s Champions League’s play-off between Young Boys Bern and CSKA Moscow.

According to the Russian paper, the Tottenham and Newcastle United scouts were particularly interested in watching 23-year-old Nigerian striker Aaron Olanare, which goes against other reports.

Sport Express adds that both the Premier League sides were also following several players from Young Boys Bern: strikers Jean-Pierre Nsamé (Cameroon) and Roger Assalé (Ivory Coast), centre-back Kasim Nuhu (Ghana) and midfielder Sékou Sanogo (Ivory Coast).

However, Sport Express have not mentioned any concrete offer or serious interest from either Tottenham or Newcastle United at this stage for Olanare or any of the other players they were reportedly watching.

The attacker signed for CSKA Moscow on a permanent transfer in January from Chinese club Guangzhou, and has impressed for the club since his arrival.

Olanare is contracted to CSKA Moscow until June 2021, and has been capped by Nigeria seven times.
