With Antonio Valencia set to leave Manchester United when his contract expires in the summer, the player’s father, also his representative, has been working the media to make it known there’s interest.
A couple of weeks ago, Luis Valencia told the Ecuador media: “He definitely will not continue in Manchester. He wants to change the air and the club is not going to renew him either. Like everything in life, everything has its end.”
On possible destinations, he said: “Arsenal, West Ham, Inter Milan and one from China are options, but in football everything is changing.”
El Universo reports that Valencia Sr. has told local radio there’s a two year offer for the player in the US. West Ham, Inter Milan and Chinese interest is reiterated, but the Gunners have gone.
The winger turned fullback is 33 years of age and has been at Manchester United for over a decade.
Given his age, West Ham may have doubts over a two year deal. The reasoning behind Luis Valencia pushing the mystery two year MLS offer, could be to again get it out there that more than one season is required.
That would back up what Luis said in March: “He wants to choose the best option, but above all he wants to sign a contract for two years. Not for the money, but for peace and hopefully, he told me, be hired by a team that fights for important things.”
