Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was one of the new faces to arrive at Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
Spurs took the midfielder from Southampton and allowed Kyle Walker-Peters to move in the opposite direction.
The Denmark international had a year left on his contract with the Saints and his decision to not sign an extension convinced Southampton to cash in from his sale last summer.
This was confirmed by the English club’s manager, Ralph Hasenhüttl, in November. The Saints coach managed the former Bayern Munich man for over 18 months at Southampton.
Højbjerg has given an interview to SportBild, and the majority of the interview focuses on his current manager José Mourinho, and Pep Guardiola, who coached him at Bayern Munich.
The Dane also heaped praise on Hasenhüttl, despite the Southampton manager stripping Højbjerg of the club’s captaincy in the second half of last season.
“When it comes to physical robustness, agility and dynamism, I benefited tremendously from Ralph Hasenhüttl during my first stop in England,” he said.
Tottenham are now reaping the benefits from what the player has learnt from Guardiola and Hasenhüttl at his previous clubs.
