Celtic were interested in a move for Arminia Bielefeld winger Robin Hack, but the player prefers a move to Basel.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenburg, who says the 23-year-old turned down a move to the Scottish Premiership champions.
He reports that Hack is in negotiations with Basel to join them before the end of the window and has already spoken to coach Alex Frei about the move, after snubbing Celtic interest.
Arminia are willing to let him go and will do so for a ‘generous financial package’ worth about €1.5m.
A move is now progressing but only because Hack has already turned down a potential move to Celtic, who also showed interest.
They made that interest clear to the player but he ‘won’t join them’ and ‘said no’ to a possible move to Celtic Park. Why that is, isn’t mentioned, but it seems he would prefer to move to Switzerland at this stage of his career.
Celtic, therefore, will have to look elsewhere for the new winger that Ange Postecoglou seemingly wants to add to his squad.
News #Hack: @CelticFC was also interested but he won’t join them and he said NO to a transfer. Basel is hot instead. @SkySportDE 🇩🇪 https://t.co/JfmDp2bkFr
