Brighton & Hove Albion showed concrete interest in Deportivo La Coruña’s David Mella in the summer window.
Last month, La Voz de Galicia reported the Seagulls made offers to both the 19-year-old and the Spanish club. The Premier League side wanted to improve his salary, but Mella wasn’t keen on joining them.
Back in September, Deportivo La Coruña sporting director Fernando Soriano revealed the winger turned down Brighton in the last window.
On November 7th, the youngster committed his long-term future to the Segunda División side by signing a new contract until 2029. On Tuesday, he spoke to reporters local to the club and his comments are relayed by La Opinión A Coruña.
“It took me no time. The same time it took me to answer this question, I told them that I wanted to continue here at Dépor,” he said.
In the summer, Deportivo La Coruña’s Hugo Rama insisted his teammate doesn’t know about the English city. Mella now joins him to joke about it.
“As Hugo said, I don’t even know where Brighton is,” Mella explained.
The right winger has scored two goals and registered three assists from 14 league games this season.
