FC Porto allowed Juan Fernando Quintero to join River Plate on loan in January 2018 and as a part of the deal, they have the option to sign the attacking midfielder permanently.
The Colombian international has two goals and three assists to his name with the Argentine club and during his time with them, the 25-year-old won the Supercopa Argentina and also the 2018 Copa Libertadores.
His form for River Plate caught the attention of Manchester City, who were supposedly considering the option of signing him.
The player spoke to Argentine radio station Radio Closs Continental and he revealed that his agent met the representatives of the Premier League winners.
“I know that my agent has met some representatives of Manchester City, this makes me proud,” Quintero was quoted as saying by Goal’s Italy edition.
The South American has further stressed that he will not return to Europe just for money.
“If I had to go back to Europe, it should happen for the sake of all the parties involved and not just for a simple economic question,” he stressed.
Quintero’s current deal with the Portuguese outfit will run down in 2021.
