Tottenham could end up making a bid for Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij this summer after he was requested by manager Antonio Conte.
That’s according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, who believes the defender could be moved on this summer to make way for Gleison Bremer.
The Torino defender is one of the hottest properties in Europe at this moment in time, having established himself as a top defender in the making during his time with Torino.
He recently signed a new deal at the Italian club but is expected to leave this summer regardless, with some reports stating he has a €25m clause that can be taken advantage of.
Inter Milan are one of his suitors, and according to FC Inter News, his signing is one that would ‘inflame’ everyone at the club and improve the current squad.
That currently has De Vrij at the heart of its defence, but according to Pedulla, he will not be renewing his deal at the club and could, in fact, be linking back up with Conte at Tottenham after the Italian reportedly requested his signature.
“In January, we directed Bremer towards Inter; we knew that the Nerazzurri had discarded some options, see Ginter,” the website reports him saying.
“In my opinion, Bremer is a phenomenon, even off the field, as he has shown gratitude and appreciation towards Torino, things that are rare today. He could have left for 15-18 million, but he renewed, and it was a nice gesture.
“In January, he gave his word to Inter; there is a fictitious and unpublicized clause for the transfer at 25-30 million. In my opinion, it should cost at least 40 million or more.
“I don’t know if there will be any quid pro quo, but the choice has been made, as has the transfer with de Vrij. There have been evaluations, and Inter have chosen Bremer.
“De Vrij will not renew his contract; we’ll see if he has requests from Tottenham or other teams.”
