Earlier on Tuesday, we covered an interview L’Equipe did with Nantes president, Waldemar Kita, where he discussed the current situation surrounding Emiliano Sala.
Stating he had never tried to push the Argentine out of the club, and that he certainly wouldn’t be calling Cardiff to try and get a transfer done, it seemed like there was a good chance the striker could stay at the club in January.
Despite interest from other sides, it appears the Bluebirds remain the only club to have made an official approach, one Sala isn’t fully convinced about.
We already knew that, yet hope remains if Nabil Djellit, a France Football journalist, is to be believed, as he explained to Winamax on Monday.
He said: “Kita absolutely wants to sell him, since there’s a lot of money involved (€20m), but Sala doesn’t want to go to Cardiff. For now, his situation is stuck, even if there is the option of renewing his deal and selling him in the summer.
“I’ve had it confirmed the player really doesn’t want to go there, but we know that, in life, money can get everyone agreeing. Sala is currently on €45k/month at Nantes, where he has one and a half years left, and Cardiff are offering him more than €200k/month”.
It’s worth pointing out that some journalists close to Nantes who read the Kita interview, such as 20 Minutes’ David Phelippeau, didn’t believe half of what was said, even going as far as saying it was ‘riddled with bull***”.
Is that good news for Cardiff? It’s hard to tell, but with few alternatives, maybe Sala will just end up taking what’s currently on the table.
