On Monday morning, we saw Spanish newspaper AS claiming Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is keen on a move to Atletico Madrid.
It was said there’s been ‘some contact’ for the move, and the player ‘looks favourably’ at the chance of moving to the Spanish capital this summer.
Now it’s time for Sport to share an update on the situation, saying it’s ‘not a utopia’, as it is ‘taking shape’ after the Manchester United player was offered to Atlético Madrid by agent Jorge Mendes.
It’s claimed the player has a special reason to leave Old Trafford, which is to feature in the Champions League.
He’s said to be highly concerned about Lionel Messi passing him as the competition’s top scorer, and ‘ready to do anything’ for a move.
Now even though Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has given green light to the signing, Sport says this is a ‘very complex’ financial operation, especially because Manchester United don’t want to let him go, having already rejected the negotiations with Chelsea.
Since the Colchoneros can’t afford such a big signing, needing to make €40m in sales first, it’s said the transfer is ‘unfeasible’ for now.
Still, they point out there are still a few days left for Ronaldo to find a way out.
