The Wesley Moraes saga is an interesting one as two countries are reporting two very different stories.
A couple of days ago, Het Laatste Nieuws explained the Brazilian forward, who is widely expected to leave Club Brugge this summer, was ‘waiting for an English club’ to make an offer for his services amid reports of Newcastle and West Ham interest.
This came after an €18m bid from Lazio was allegedly rejected, as the Serie A side want the 22-year-old to help lighten the load on Ciro Immobile all the while upgrading on Felipe Caicedo, and HLN make it clear the player hadn’t agreed terms with the Italians.
However, in Italy, it’s a very different story, as Corriere dello Sport on Thursday claim the Club Brugge star has indeed agreed terms with Lazio and is waiting for the two clubs to settle on a fee.
As for Newcastle (West Ham aren’t mentioned), the Italian newspaper believe their offer has been ‘put on hold’, while the rest have been rejected.
Seemingly aware of the Magpies’ interest, Lazio ‘haven’t given up’ on signing Wesley, and all they allegedly need to do is convince Club Brugge with the right offer.
Reports this conflicting tend to be quite rare, and it could simply be someone within the Brazilian’s camp feeding different newspapers different stories to try and get a ‘bidding war’ going.
That or no one has an actual clue what is going on.
We’ll keep you posted on any updates, as usual.
