Juventus’ Arthur has struggled for minutes under Massimiliano Allegri this season. Last month, his agent admitted the need to try and find the best possible solution for the 25-year-old in January.
For the past week or so, various reports in Italy and Brazil have indicated Mikel Arteta has instructed Arsenal to sign the midfielder in the winter market.
The Gunners haven’t concluded the operation and Calciomercato now claim they have ‘scheduled a new contact’ with the Serie A side, to ‘try to break the deadlock’.
It’s claimed the former Barcelona man ‘pushes to join’ Arteta at the Emirates because he is convinced that under the Spaniard, he can relaunch his career. The negotiation is for a dry loan deal, with the Premier League side taking care of his full wages.
Juventus would prefer to have an option to extend the loan deal, upon meeting predefined conditions. However, this is not blocking the Brazil international from joining Arsenal.
Allegri has ‘already given the green light’ for the South American’s exit, but he doesn’t want to be short of options in midfield.
The Turin club must bring in a replacement before letting him leave. The Old Lady tried to take Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek, but the Blues are ‘blocking’ his exit.
Despite the current situation, Calciomercato state the ‘feeling’ is that, in the end, the deal will go through, considering the ‘will’ of Arthur and the ‘strong pressure’ of Arsenal.
The two clubs are set to have new contact in the next 48 hours and the report says it will be ‘decisive’ to decide on Arthur’s loan move to the Emirates.
