Amid the uncertainty surrounding Youri Tielemans’ future at Leicester City, the Foxes seem pretty adamant about one thing: Islam Slimani won’t be staying at King Power Stadium beyond this season.
Loaned out to Fenerbahce for the current campaign, the Algeria international hasn’t found much luck in Turkey, and a return to England is expected in June.
However, his stay at Leicester this summer shouldn’t be a long one, as everything points towards him returning to Sporting CP in the upcoming transfer window, following him saying ‘yes’ to said transfer before the weekend.
The main issue, however, was the player’s current wages, which the Liga NOS club simply can’t afford.
Le Buteur, however, reassured everyone via their own sources over the weekend, claiming that Slimani ‘is prepared to lower his demands’ in order to secure his King Power Stadium exit, thus ‘relaunching’ his career at the club that made him famous.
The Algerian website believe an agreement ‘could be found’ as early as the start of the transfer window, which is May 16th in England and July 1st in Portugal.
However, we don’t know which one they were referring to, but our guess is the latter of the two.
