Manchester City continue to be linked to the Grêmio forward Everton, in a saga which has been going on a few years now.
The 22-year-old is enjoying the best form of his career this season, and has just been called up to play for the national team in the next friendlies against the United States and El Salvador.
He’s also just signed a new contract with Grêmio. But according to UOL, that’s part of a plan for him to be sold to Europe soon.
The website claims that Grêmio have increased his release clause in order to make a big sale with him. The expectation is to make him more expensive than Arthur, who recently left for Barcelona in a €32m deal.
Regarding interested sides, UOL claims that clubs from Italy, France and Russia approached Grêmio in the past few months. But it’s Manchester City who are named a couple of times.
Firstly because the Premier League side have been scouting Everton for years. Now there’s also the fact that a club emissary went to watch him in Brazil last month.
After following the player for so long, it’s impossible to guess if Manchester City will go for Everton or not. The fact is he’s being prepared to move to a top league soon, which help.
