Athletic Bilbao forward Iñaki Williams has spoken out on the recent rumours which have been linking him to Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus.

In an interview with Spanish website Sportium, the 22-year-old recalled his commitment yo the Basque club before teasing about a transfer out of the country.

Asked about interest from Liverpool and the other two clubs, Williams says: “There’s a lot of news coming out, but I’m calm. If they look at me it’s because I’m doing things right. I am privileged.

“If I have to leave tomorrow, I will always be very honest with Athletic. They gave me everything. I don’t want to change air. It’s my first choice right now.”

Then the player was questioned if he’d be up for leaving the club in the next transfer window: “If there are offers, I will go head to head with Athletic. It is my home. I have a contract running. The first thing I would do is talk to the President. He’s been very good to me.

“I’m where I want to be. I like the club, the companions, the city… I am happy in Bilbao.”

And as the reporter kept insisting on the rumours of interest from Liverpool and others, Williams made sure to say how much he loves the club: “It is always good that they speak well of you. They don’t distract me. I give it my all every time I jump on the pitch.

“Defending the Athletic shirt is a pride. There is a lot of history behind it. It is one of the great clubs in Europe.”

The player has been one of Athletic Bilbao’s standout players for a while, and the club’s current season won’t help much in calming things. As they fight for a Europa League spot, he has four goals and seven assists so far.

William’s contract was renewed not long ago. The current deal has €50m release clause and only expires in 2021.
