Wanting a new midfielder for his Tottenham squad in January, Antonio Conte, with the help of Fabio Paratici, has turned his attention to Italy.
After all, it’s a market the duo know well, having worked there for pretty much all their careers, and the man they have both agreed on is Sweden international Mattias Svanberg.
The 22-year-old has seen rumours of an exit in January grow over the past few days, with Tottenham the side said to be most interested in his services.
This is echoed by Corriere di Bologna on Thursday, who push the line that Spurs have ‘targeted’ the Swede for the upcoming transfer window and have already made ‘enquiries’ about a possible transfer.
It’s explained both Antonio Conte and Paratici have liked the player ‘for some time’, and have made him one of their ‘main objectives’ for the next month.
However, it’s made clear that Bologna ‘cannot think of selling one of their pillars’, especially as there has been talk of them wanting to renew his contract by an extra year with an increased wage.
Corriere di Bologna then point out that ‘the temptations of other suitors could speed up the negotiation’ and bring forward the new deal.
As for Tottenham, the chequebook would need to be opened to convince the Serie A side.
