Back towards the end of May, the idea that Justin Kluivert could be offered to Arsenal as a makeweight in AS Roma’s attempts to keep Henrikh Mkhitaryan was created.

It was helped by the fact Mino Raiola is always happy to get a deal done for his players whenever he can, and that step has now been taken.

That’s what Corriere dello Sport are reporting on Thursday, claiming Kluivert ‘has been offered’ to Arsenal with a deal for the Armenia international in mind, as the agent is ‘interested in the swap’.

If such a transfer were to take place, it would likely have to be one comprised of cash plus the former Borussia Dortmund star for the Dutchman, which would in turn help AS Roma fill their coffers for the summer.

Raiola isn’t the only one thinking for this, as Paulo Fonseca, the Italian club’s manager, also wants to keep Mkhitaryan, yet he doesn’t want to weaken his squad either.

The Portuguese would ideally seek to have the Armenian and Chris Smalling at his disposal next season, and if Kluivert has to be sacrificed to achieve this, then he’d also like Chelsea’s Pedro to come in.

If all that happens, thus adding experience to a young squad, then it’s said he would ‘feel more secure’ with the squad at his disposal and with the moves being engineered to bolster the coffers.
