Earlier today, we covered a report from Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web which revealed that Aston Villa are interested in Lucas Moura from Tottenham Hotspur.
It was said that Steven Gerrard’s side, along with Newcastle United, had their ‘sights’ in the 30-year-old player, and approached Spurs regarding a potential loan.
Well, it didn’t take long for some updates on this chase to show up, and Aston Villa’s chances of landing Moura are now basically ruled out by the Brazilian media.
UOL journalist Bruno Andrade shows up to say that the Villans indeed made contact ‘at the start of the week’.
However, it’s said their interest in the Spurs player was no more than an approach, as the club didn’t even make a bid for the signing.
The story claims that Moura is actually expected to ‘remain’ at Tottenham for now.
These are interesting claims because besides the links with Aston Villa and Newcastle, there have also been reports from Turkey saying Galatasaray are advancing to sign the Tottenham attacker, meaning we now have to wait and see what actually happens between now and the deadline.
