The Spanish media have for months been reporting Paul Pogba’s preference this summer is to sign for Real Madrid, and he’s certainly been doing some flirting in that regard.
Wanting a new challenge after what he believes has been his best season, the Frenchman has made it clear he’s looking to leave Old Trafford and start a new adventure somewhere.
Manchester United aren’t playing ball, and now Pogba is on the verge of a slightly awkward return to the club.
Sunday’s edition of AS reports the midfielder is now ‘desperate’ and seriously considering the Juventus option if he can’t move to Real Madrid.
Facing a Manchester United who have so far shown no signs of wobbling, Madrid are moving towards other targets like Ajax’s Donny van de Beek.
That doesn’t mean they’ve completely given up, and developments could happen this week when Pogba does actually return.
AS don’t point it out, but if United are refusing to negotiate with Madrid then they’d quite possibly do the same with Juventus.
Even if they do enter talks with the Turin club, there’s a very real doubt over whether Juve really need to spend €150m+ on a midfielder, and whether they even can if they also sign Matthijs de Ligt.
