Leicester City have a few players with their deals expiring in June and Brendan Rodgers urged them to “brave enough” to ask for a move away from the King Power Stadium in January.
Ayoze Pérez is among them and has attracted attention from Real Betis, AS Roma and a few other clubs. This was reported in Spain earlier this week.
Estadio Deportivo now state José Mourinho has already called the player to explain his plans for him at Roma. Meanwhile, the 29-year-old has a ‘real option’ to join Real Betis.
However, Manuel Pellegrini’s side have informed the Spaniard they cannot afford to sign him in the winter market. From those close to the Leicester player, they highlight his desire to return to Spain and play in La Liga.
The style of football employed by Real Betis suits the Leicester player’s characteristics. This, coupled with his desire to return to Spain could give them an advantage over Roma.
ED are told that Pérez is in ‘no hurry’ to leave Leicester. The attacker is ‘not going to rush’ and ‘wants to choose very well the next step’ of his career.
This means Pérez will finish the season at Leicester and then decide where to move next as a free agent.
