Hoffenheim’s Georginio Rutter is edging towards completing a move to Leeds United.
The Whites will invest €40m and in the process, make the striker their club-record signing.
L’Equipe claim this figure may come as a surprise in France, but not so much for those who follow the Bundesliga, where the 20-year-old has been since the winter 2021 market.
The France U21 international is still relatively unknown in his own country because he didn’t play a lot there. He was not given regular opportunities at Rennes, where Julien Stéphan was then in charge of the club.
Rutter has had more prominence since he arrived at Hoffenheim and his development there has now helped him get a move to Leeds. He has been less decisive this season, mainly because Hoffenheim have struggled as a unit.
Leeds also hope to make the Frenchman an important part of their attack, alongside Rodrigo.
Rutter arrived in England last night to seal a €40m move to Leeds.
Ahead of his transfer to Leeds, L’Equipe say the attacker is now a ‘player with a new status’. They also back him to have a bright future with the France national team.
