Barcelona’s interest in Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva continues to get regular coverage in the Catalan media.
Earlier this month, Sport reported the Citizens are convinced the 28-year-old will commit his long-term future at the Etihad. His current deal runs down in 2025.
Thursday’s Sport has a report explaining the saga involving the Manchester City star and the La Liga ‘may end soon’.
It’s said the Portugal international dreams of joining the Blaugrana and has ‘waited until now’ to try and force a move away from the treble winners. He could only take this step if the Catalan club were to make a firm effort to sign him.
That hasn’t happened so far and the report states Silva has ‘already given a deadline’, which is this week, for Barca to close his signing. If not, Sport state that he’s likely to ‘accept the renewal proposal’ offered by Manchester City.
Barca have made a loan offer with a mandatory purchase option and that has been rejected by Pep Guardiola’ s side. Sport say the Premier League winners will only open the door to sell Silva if there’s a formal offer that convinces them.
If Barcelona fail to table one in the next few days, Silva could end up renewing his deal at Manchester City.
