Michel Vorm was outstanding for Tottenham Hotspur as they drew 1-1 with Liverpool on Saturday. Vorm was only playing due to a Hugo Lloris injury, but he showed he’s a top level goalkeeper and one Tottenham should be happy to have as their back-up.
Whilst this was happening, Marca in Spain were preparing their Sunday stories, one of which saying Pau Lopez is still expected to sign for Tottenham. The youngster is set to join up with Spain’s U21 squad, and Marca say he ‘may no longer’ return to Espanyol.
That would present the question of what happens if the Pau transfer does go though. Having Lloris, Vorm and Pau is excessive and would do little to help the 21 year old goalkeeper progress.
Likewise, there’s no way Vorm should be a third choice goalkeeper, with Spurs lucky he’s remained content as second choice. Vorm is 32 years of age and has a contract until June 2018, maybe he’s indicated he doesn’t want to consider staying longer than that.
Pau would then be a good choice, but unless Vorm goes before the deadline, the problem will be there until January at least. A curious situation.
